If you heard the program on “103 The Eye” recently, you may  be aware that on of our Club Members is about to visit the Itala Project,which, along with our twinned Club in Germany, R.C.Coesfeld, we have been supporting for a number of years, We are about to embark on further Projects, hopefully Rtn.Ken Eggleston will be able to  bring back up to date information on the magnificent progress which is being made at the Shool, which is now educating about 1400 Studends. Ken is sheduled for a return sunday morning slot on TheEye, we will let you know when it is scheduled

Showing the World,Rotary Lights Up Iconic landmarks around the world were illuminated with the End Polio Now message the week of 23 February in honor of Rotary’s 105th anniversary. Landmarks lit up included the Pyramid of Khafre in Egypt; the Taipei Arena in Taiwan; the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain; the Old Port Captain’s Office on the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town; the Obelisk of Buenos Aires, Argentina; and  the Royal Palace at Caserta in Italy.

Presidents Tony & David

Both Presidents,Tony Wallis from Melton Belvoir, and David Ward from the Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray, were out early this morning at the start of a busy day for both clubs. As well as collecting at Tesco’s, as part of the Rotary Awareness Campaign, both clubs are heavily involved with todays semi-final of the Young Musician Compeition

The two Melton Mowbray clubs have agreed to work together on the following:

1. Organise a ‘Window of Opportunity’ by utilising a town centre empty shop front to display Thanks for Life posters.

2. Man a market stall on Tuesday 23rd February for polio eradication fund raising

3. A similar fund raising opportunity inside Tesco’s on Saturday 27th February

4. Working with Interact at King Edward VII and other schools on fund raising ideas such as ‘Purple Pinkie’

For those of you who thought Valentines Day just meant buying some flowers for your partner, try listening  to “Down To Earth”  today  on  Radio Leicester (104.8fm and DAB) at 12.00 noon, you may recognise a few familiar voices, and hear President Tony’s excellent piece on Polio Plus. when we can, there will be a link to the BBC iPlayer to listen to the programme
